Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) was again named to the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Small Airport. ROC was one of 10 small airports across the country to receive this distinction. This is the second consecutive year that ROC has finished in the top 10, improving its position from 10th in 2023 to seventh in 2024.

“It’s no surprise that the ROC Airport has received this national recognition for the second consecutive year. From the unique local partnerships with the Strong Museum of Play and Greenlight Networks, to hearing loops for deaf and hard of hearing passengers, a modernized terminal, and so much more ‐ the ROC Airport is among the best in the nation,” said County Executive Bello. “My administration and our team at the ROC Airport are committed to improving the passenger experience through strategic investments and improvements, and a proactive approach to adding new airlines and desirable nonstop destinations. We’re grateful for the support of the community, which helped ROC earn this recognition again this year.”

More than 2.6 million people traveled through the ROC Airport in 2023, marking the highest passenger volume in over 15 years. In 2024 alone, the ROC Airport added nonstop air service to Las Vegas, NV on Southwest Airlines, Fort Lauderdale, FL on Spirit Airlines, and Greenville/Spartanburg, SC, Orlando/Lakeland, FL, and Charlotte/Concord, NC on Avelo Airlines.

Passenger amenities at ROC include: free video arcade and kids play area in partnership with the Strong Museum of Play, free high‐speed wifi provided by Greenlight Networks, modern lounge furniture, mix of local and national food concessions, plug‐in charging throughout the airport, Hearing Loops for deaf or hard of hearing passengers, and an Aria Network membership to improve access for blind and low vision passengers.
