County Executive Adam Bello Announces The 2024 Schedule Of Free Rabies Vaccination Clinics

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced the 2024 schedule for the Department of Public Health’s free Rabies Vaccination Clinics.

“The joy of owning a pet comes with responsibilities. Ensuring that our pets are vaccinated against rabies is key to their safety and to Public Health,” said County Executive Bello. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of these free clinics to protect your dog, cat or ferret from this deadly disease.”

To ensure the safety of staff and others on site, all dogs must be on leashes. Cats and domestic ferrets must be in carriers. Vaccinations will be good for three years for pets with proof of prior immunization. For those pets without proof of previous vaccination, it will be good for one year.

Eligible pets must be at least three months of age.

State law requires cats, dogs and domestic ferrets to be vaccinated for rabies by the age of four months. Owners can be fined up to $200 if they fail to get their pets vaccinated and keep them up-to-date.
