Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced a $200,000 investment by the County of Monroe Industrial Agency (COMIDA) to support RochesterWorks’ Enhanced Recovery Services Program. The program addresses two critical issues simultaneously: the shortage of qualified individuals in the field of substance use disorder recovery and the challenges that people face finding meaningful employment during their recovery journey. The core mission of the RochesterWorks Enhanced Recovery Services program is to increase the number of certified healthcare professionals available to address the opioid crisis and addiction in our community.
“Today we are taking another step towards tackling one of the most pressing issues facing our community, the opioid crisis, and addiction as a whole,” said County Executive Bello. “Through this program, we aim to qualify individuals to fill essential roles in the field of addiction recovery and help them find good paying jobs here in Monroe County. Thanks to RochesterWorks, COMIDA, and all partner agencies, we are forming a united front against addiction, offering hope, and providing opportunities for those who need them most.”
This program collaborates with the Monroe County Sheriff’s office and Veterans Outreach Center to receive referrals. It has already forged strong partnerships, boasting 14 Memoranda of Understanding with community partners. Those valued partners include Recovery Coach University, Delphi Rise, Huther Doyle, Recovery Houses of Rochester, East House, ROCovery Fitness, CORE Center, Rochester Regional Health System, Venture Forthe, Westfall Associates, Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center and DePaul NCADD-R.
“The Enhanced Recovery Services Program has proven to be an innovative solution that addresses two very critical community issues: the ongoing substance use epidemic and the shortage of trained recovery professionals. On behalf of our partner agencies who have helped make this program the success it is, RochesterWorks thanks County Executive Bello and the COMIDA Board for effectively saving this program through this vital funding, which will allow us to further our work of helping those in recovery attain economic independence,” said Dave Seeley, executive director, RochesterWorks.
