The news out of Erie County is awful.
I spoke with Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz this morning to offer my deepest condolences to all the families who lost loved ones through this terrible storm.
Buffalo and Erie County are requesting any mutual aid available. We always stand ready to help our neighbors in their time of need. This morning, six Storm Emergency Fire Units (SEFUs) were deployed to Erie County from the Chili, Brighton, Henrietta, Gates, Ridge Road and Lakeshore Fire Departments.
The SEFU units are staffed by four firefighters and can be used to supplement fire and EMS calls. Later this afternoon, Spencerport and Point Pleasant fire companies are sending full firetrucks with six firefighters each to help.
Thank you to those fire departments heading to Buffalo today to assist in storm recovery and rescue.
