Union represents deputy sheriffs assigned to courts
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced a new collective bargaining agreement with the Monroe County Law Enforcement Association that provides pay increases and other benefit increases to deputy sheriffs assigned to the courts.
The agreement, which will be in effect from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2026, was overwhelmingly approved by the MCLEA members and passed unanimously Tuesday night by the Monroe County Legislature.
“These deputies serve an important role in our justice system by maintaining order during court proceedings, and I thank each of them for their hard work and dedication to the residents of Monroe County,” said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. “I’m pleased to report that since I took office, all County’s union collective bargaining agreements have been renewed on time and with fair settlement increases for employees.”
“Taking care of our deputies and their families is a priority for my office,” said Monroe County Sheriff Todd K. Baxter. “Thank you to Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and the legislators who voted yes, for supporting the men and women of MCSO’s Court Security Bureau. These deputies protect our courts, judges, and community every day, without hesitation. This marks the sixth contract we have ratified since 2018, making good on the promise to put our deputies and their loved ones first.”
“On behalf of the Monroe County Law Enforcement Association, I want to thank County Executive Adam Bello and Sheriff Todd Baxter for a new collective bargaining agreement that recognizes the hard work and dedication of the Deputies assigned to the Hall of Justice and Appellate Court building,” said James Eksten, President of MCLEA. “We were very pleased to start negotiations early and the professionalism exhibited by everyone which led to a mutually beneficial agreement in a timely manner. This solidifies Monroe County's commitment to the safety of our judicial staff and all members of the public who utilize the services of the courts.”
