During her Fiscal Year 2023 Executive Budget presentation today, Gov. Kathy Hochul outlined her bold, clear vision for achieving a prosperous New Era for New York and Monroe County. Her strategic, fiscally responsible and forward-thinking plan makes key investments in our roads, bridges and other infrastructure as well as our pandemic recovery efforts, while giving middle-class taxpayers and homeowners welcome tax relief. She is addressing the climate crisis with urgency, recognizes the need to create and preserve affordable housing for struggling individuals and families and is helping COVID-19 affected businesses recover and rebuild.
I thank her for recognizing the importance of helping working parents thrive and succeed by investing an additional $1.4 billion to expand access to childcare subsidies — and for addressing the devastating toll opioid and substance use disorders take on our communities through an additional $400 million in funding for prevention, treatment and recovery. I look forward to continuing to work alongside Gov. Hochul as we seek to not just recover from the pandemic, but to seize this opportunity to Plan Forward and create the better, more inclusive and prosperous future all New Yorkers deserve.
