Yesterday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed a bill increasing funding for Early Intervention programs in New York State. This is a major victory for our children and to their families who struggle to access needed services.

The law (S.5560-A/A.5339) boosted funding by an additional $40 million to early intervention education for toddlers with different abilities. This funding will be key in identifying developmental delays in children addressing them with essential services. Things like occupational therapy, language and speech therapy, and physical therapy.

Governor Hochul and I share the belief that we have a moral obligation to provide these services to our kids. It is the right thing to do — one of the fundamental responsibilities of any community is to protect and care for our children – especially the most vulnerable.

Thank you, Gov. Hochul. This new law will no doubt change the lives of our children by making early identification and services available to families in need.
