Clerk I
Description of Duties
This is a senior level position responsible for planning, administering, and performing complex clerical tasks using independent judgement and good decision-making skills. The use of a personal computer for word processing and database entry and manipulation is an integral part of this position. Responsibilities include dealing with complicated systems and interpreting laws or technical regulations. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a department head or an administrator. General supervision may be exercised over a subordinate staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at BOCES #1 and must have served continuously for twelve (12) months holding the position of Office Clerk II, Clerk II, Data Control Clerk or Personnel Clerk immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited. A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
Brockport and Penfield Central School Districts and the Town of Greece:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at one of the agencies above and must have served continuously for twelve (12) months holding the position of Office Clerk II immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited.
Rochester City School District:
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Rochester City School District and must have served continuously for twelve (12) months holding the position of Office Clerk II or Office Clerk II - Bilingual immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited. A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at Monroe Community College and must have served continuously for twelve (12) months holding the position of Office Clerk II or any other titles in the salary groups of 7 through 9 immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited. A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
