Clerk I
Description of Duties
This is a senior level position responsible for planning, administering, and performing complex clerical tasks using independent judgement and good decision-making skills. The use of a personal computer for word processing and database entry and manipulation is an integral part of this position. Responsibilities include dealing with complicated systems and interpreting laws or technical regulations. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a department head or an administrator. General supervision may be exercised over a subordinate staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at a Monroe County Department and must have served continuously for twelve (12) months holding the position of Office Clerk II, Clerk II or any other clerical or secretarial titles in the salary groups of 7 through 9 immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title(s) will be credited.
A combination of time served in multiple titles sufficient to meet the maximum period of required service is also qualifying.
