Environmental Facilities Mechanic
Description of Duties
This is a skilled mechanical position in the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services in the field of wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment and solid waste processing. This position differs from Maintenance Mechanic I and Station Mechanic (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Mechanical) by the broader scope involved when completing interrelated duties and assignments, planning and coordinating work activities within a site, and the less technical nature of the position. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a higher-level staff member with some leeway for independent judgment; however, the more complex work is reviewed by inspection daily, post completion, and thereafter on a periodic basis. Incumbents may be required to work in all types of weather, including extremes of hot and cold, ascend and descend up to one hundred feet and perform work in small, cramped spaces. Does related work as required.
