Data Center Manager
Description of Duties
This position is located in the Department of Information Services and is responsible for the day-to-day and county-wide planning, directing, and coordinating of the Data Center(s) within Monroe County government limits whose facilities contain large amounts of computer information via servers and networking appliances. Duties involve the configuration, design and implementation of a County-wide Data Center, application management and deployment as it pertains to data center activities (new and old server builds), installation and disposal of hardware assets within the Data Center(s), equipment maintenance and inventory, customer service, and management of staff who develop and carry out data center infrastructure technology projects to maintain a healthy environment for Monroe County’s infrastructure. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, the Infrastructure Services Manager or other higher-level staff member. Provides after-hour support.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at the Monroe County Department of Information Services and must have served continuously for twelve (12) months holding a permanent position of Network Administrator I immediately preceding the date of the written test. Provisional time served immediately before a permanent appointment to the same title will be credited.
