Description of Duties
This is an entry-level mechanical position responsible for assisting with and performing electrical construction work related to installing or servicing traffic signals and related equipment. Work is performed under a variety of conditions such as changing weather, confined spaces (manholes), and various heights. The employee will learn to drive medium and heavy trucks and operate heavy equipment. The employee will be required to obtain a New York State Learner’s Permit for a Class *B* Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of the appointment, with the employing agency providing sufficient training and road time to obtain the permit license. The employee reports directly to and works under general supervision of the Supervisor of Signal Construction or other higher-level staff member. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New York State Class *D* driver’s license at the time of appointment with the condition of obtaining a Class *B* Commercial Driver’s License Learner’s Permit within the first six (6) months of employment.
