Assistant Probation Director (Group D)

Description of Duties
This is an administrative-level supervisory position in a Group D probation department. The incumbent supervises a number of Principal Probation Officers, assists a Deputy Probation Director (Group D) in department administration and may be responsible for specialized duties and/or the administration of a section of the probation department. The work is performed under the general supervision of a Deputy Probation Director (Group D) with extensive leeway allowed to exercise independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. An Assistant Probation Director (Group D) is a Peace Officer pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law Section 2.10 and may be authorized to carry a firearm in the performance of his/her duties.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of permanent competitive class service as a Principal Probation Officer or two (2) years of permanent competitive class service as a Probation Supervisor.
